Seems like you are very unfortunate. Mine is a 2013 and no problems at all. There's a lemon law in the States I believe and you would be entitled to a new vehicle under these circumstances.

''but now feel that current and future L405 owners need to be aware of the problems that affect these cars.''

I'm on my fifth Range Rover, my dad is on his fourth and never had any major issue. They're not perfect but a perfect car is boring. Nothing can replace a Range Rover, many so called SUV's out there but nothing in the same league. |

Range Rovers can be hit and miss. My 4.2 SC (NAS spec) had quite some issues that needed to be resolved despite the low mileage. The type of issues weren't "major" but still, failing heat exchangers (design fault), solenoids (gearbox design fault), rear brake calipers (design fault) and some other annoying and quite costly issues (air bags front suspension, a/c renewed, fuel pump although I got a really cheap brand new one) all in all a lot of money and headache.

I wasn't expecting not to have any problems at all, but something like this is most likely going to lead to a brand new RR being taken apart, which has a good chance of leading to other problems. Obviously, at this point I don't have much confidence in the service department. I need to check this morning if the brake squeal and AC smell are gone, but those might take a few days to show up again.

if you consider the amount of parts it takes to make a modern day vehicle the you are bound to get the odd rattle etc...if your dealer had given you vip service and solved your problems would you be still unhappy with your range rover, i suspect not.. ... - .- -.
