Yes, good alternative. Go and have a bespoke crank machined instead, you'll save thousands.

Aside from that, I always wondered why they went to so much trouble for the results with the 580S (building a new engine, changing gear ratios etc.) instead of, say, supercharging it.

It seems to be the OF way - no replacement for displacement.

No, i don't know of anyone fixing them! Its been end of life for the two most recent OF's I've been offered... Many we get offered are back to a standard 4.4 engine as the OF lump has failed in the past...

Every one that i have heard of failing has been crank related but I'm unsure why...

Craig - thanks. Shame the expensive trick part also fails. That one appears to have the correct engine (well the covers anyway) but maybe one to miss. Shame. I wonder what a warranty co would say.....
