I ve done the repair, and i have no problem with the pairing of the camera, but my camera doensnt charge.

It indicates that it is in the cradle, it indicates that the battery is charging, but when I power it, it just dies.

Help!

VMPP, have you left it charging for long enough? You may need to keep it in the charger during a long journey.
Also did you use higher capacity batteries, original items are approximately 700mah, I replaced mine with 850mah good quality batteries. Very Happy
Had it, loved it!

Yes, it has now been on the car for some time.

They worked pretty well as they were precharged by me.
But in the car, the indicator climbs, but the cam, as soon as it powers, dies down immediately.

I bought some of these:

Just done this camera now works Thumbs Up

Only one word of caution, the two halves are held together by three plastic clips and the black sealant, one of the clips is in the centre at the bottom (opposite the lens) if you're too enthusiastic you'll damage or even break it. It is as the OP states the place to start prising apart but just avoid the centre and you won't break anything.

Iv'e just done this as well but as others say watch out for that single clip. I split mine but managed to weld it back together with the soldering iron. I got my rechargable batteries from Maplins. Their own brand, 1000mah and 12.99 for a pack of 12 so you can make up a second pack ready for when your first one fails!!!! Thumbs Up

My camera shuts down just after a second or two of image and then I only get static on the screen; however the orange leds stay on forever (well, for a very long time anyway, I left it on for at least an hour)… Does this still mean the batteries are the problem? Or should the leds die too? Thank you for confirming this!

No after the batteries are too gubbed to operate the camera they will still work the LED's for quite a while. 2008 MY Supercharged

Thank you, seems like I’ll have to start the battery replacement procedure…

Well I managed to replace the batteries, it took one hour and of course I broke the bottom tab while opening the case, so I thought maybe a picture of the cover would help future brave Venturecam owners in locating those tabs. I replaced the batteries with 6 Varta NiMH 800mAh and now it is working great! I must say though, the old batteries are still delivering 7.6V (but only 0.6A)...

This is weird, the camera is working, it can be viewed on the screen when its button is pressed, but it cannot be activated from the screen’s menu. And it is not charging. I got 12v at the cradle’s connector, I re-checked the wires in the cam, but it doesn’t charge when inserted, there is no progress bar and no green charging light. I am starting to believe this is the cause for the old batteries’ malfunction. What am I doing wrong?

Does anyone think this item may be worth pursuing?

It does not appear to contain a thermistor.

Thanks Dave699, I had the same problem with no activity frm my Venturecam from my recently acquired 2007 S/C. Had a read of this, down to the supermarket for the same batteries, a bit of soldering last night, now in business. all lights working as they should, now just got to bond the two halves together then make sure it's all paired up and put to use.

Thanks for the photographic sequence to your instructions.

Regards

Pete.

Ive just done ours, we had 3 out of 6 dead cells in the AAA's.

Brought these from eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261710758578?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT

So we had less to solder, works a treat in the car now (2007) shows charging on the screen etc.

Thanks again,

Tom
