you cant make it permanent unless you re-wire it....the boot one is permanent live and you could run a feed to the front.. ... - .- -.

The 12v sockets run through relays, that's why they normally only become live when the ignition is on.

Thanks for the swift replies guys. I'll have a think about running a feed from the boot socket to the cubby box one. Travelling around in circles again. |

It's a lot easier to do what Discotigger suggests than running a new cable.

My cubby box one is always live. Must have changed on the later cars......

^ The wiring diagrams show two options, ignition controlled and not.

The easy way to find out is to look at the relay panel in the rear right hand cubby box. If there is a relay missing from the board and a metal bridge strap in its place, then the 12v accessory sockets will be permanently live. |

I think the 100mm of cable as suggested by nicedayforit is the way to go. Ta Travelling around in circles again. |

Just a point about the cable, as the circuit is fused at 20A the cable also needs to be rated at 20A.

My 03 TD6 was always live, this 06 SC is not. It seems that it changed when it went from BMW to Ford under the skin.... 2006 4.2 SC
