A common fault is the amp gets water inside it either from a leak or condensation.

It's a bit disturbing that water leaks into that area so often... I keep reading about it lately. Is it a design fault... |

Not really a design fault if my previous cars are anything to go by. I'm surprised they keep dry so long, actually. The oldest LM's are going towards 9 yrs. now - and if seals/sunroof drains/etc. were not serviced properly (who's are?) then at some point, you have water ingress. But I digress...

Phil, i had exactly the same problem. Look in the rear left side panel in the boot - there is a socket on the top of the amp with a junction box of numerous wires going in. Take this out and you will see that probably some of the little "spikes" in the cluster (around 12-16 in total I think) are bent and not making a contact with the inserted junction box. That was what was wrong with mine anyway. It's all good now as I used tweezers to straighten out the spikes so the plastic contact box slid on properly and made contact on all the spikes. (I only have one box in the rear as I am poor and only have an HSE!) |

It's also caused by the amp getting hot and as it's in a void condensation building when it's colder outside at night. TDV8 HST Sport **Current** 4.4 V8 Autobiography and 22" wheels **Gone** |

had a quick look at the plug, couldnt see any obvious bent spikes but upon refit the whole system sounded much better. May well have been some water ingress as I did use that particular area for storing my fishing waders (always wet ) so much so for trying to use all the of storage space 'smartly'

just like to say i had water coming in to the boot/entertainment area and after taking the whole back end to bits finally found that under the outside e pillar covers the trim clips have a foam water stopper on and over time these wear down and let water passed what i did was took the e pillars off and the trim clips and put some all weather sealant (not sanitary sealant as this will go mouldy after time)round the trim clip that goes onto the body and then refit this has stopped my water getting in anyway hope this helped anyone

You need the amp testing, or perhaps swap with someones who's works to check if it's your speakers. TDV8 HST Sport **Current**
