Deployable side step problem

Hi...A not mechanically minded Newbie here.

To cut a long story short... we've recently (4/5 months ago) got ourselves an o9 vogue tdv8 (push button start model) everything seems ok with the car but one gripe that's getting on my Censored is the passenger side step seems to have a mind of its own. Sometimes (and I mean sometimes rarely) its retracts fully but more often than not it seems to stick. Sometimes it doesn't move at all and sometimes it only retracts half way. Is there any of you old Wink and much more wiser owners out there be able to offer this thicko any idiot proof advise ?

Many many thanx in advance

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue Supercharged Zambezi Silver

I've sometimes had passenger side issues when the battery is not up to full charge. I ctek mine every couple of weeks and the problem seems to fix itself. a lot of FFRR issues are down to the battery

How does the motor sound (compared to the drivers side?)

Smooth & quiet or like its full of grit & grinding?

To be honest I haven't sat and compared them. The only thing I've done to try and rectify the problem is to daub grease over the moving parts about 4 weeks ago but obviously this hasn't rectified the problem Crying or Very sad

Right.... been and had a listen. They both sound more or less the same with the passenger one (the problem side)sounding very slightly "bitty/gritty" but not much.
I've just tried "helping" the step up on the upward movement but it will only go up just over half way ! Confused

Bizarre! Try a hard battery reset? Only thing i can think then would be an ECU issue?
