Can anyone remember a thread about clicking starter motors?

Trying to find a recent thread about a strange occurrence where the OP was getting into his 4.4 TDV8 and pressing the brake & starter button and he would just get a "miss start" type noise...

Thanks to all in advance Bow down

OP would get in and press the start button, the starter would engage for a brief 1/2 second or so and stop... Car would NOT start... Maybe would on second try? Cant remember...

At the foot of this 2012 thread, Rambles posted but had no reply to this (Rambles avatar shows a 2011MY 4.4TDV8 although that might not have been the car as at his 25.12.2012 post ???):

“ I have also had some starting problems recently....

when cold, it has not wanted to start on first push of button. But normally starts on the second go, has not required more than 3 go's.

when warm, not a problem.

have noticed it more when the fuel tank is low.....could this be an issue?
or could it be something like the glow plugs are not warming up quickly enough..... ”

I am not the OP but have had these symptoms on both TDV8 4.4's I have owned. Both issues were solved with a software upgrade from a Service Action bulletin. Both were MY12 cars.
