I'm looking at 1260 Delivery Pump Control System, possibly along with the LCM eeprom fault. For these purposes you can ignore all the others. For me still pointing towards the fuel rail wiring.....

OK, it has been a while since I started this topic, as I decided to take the car off the road for a few months (its mainly used as a weekend run-around). This week I decided to try to get the car going again.

I did try it with easy start a while and it didn't work, but I didn't want to try for too long as I have read a few horror stories.

Tried to start it several teams while spraying Bradex easy start strait into the air filter. The engine caught briefly and run roughly for a couple of seconds. This happened 2 or 3 times but I decided to stop as I was getting loads of smoke coming out of the exhaust and it was starting to smell. Also I didn't want to do any damage to the engine. All sorts of errors started to flash on the dashboard. Fuel Injection, HDC inactive, Air suspension inactive etc etc.

Given that you have adequate fuel coming out of the fuel filter I would have the fuel pressure checked in the common rail whilst cranking the engine if it was me.
