Is suppose it had to happen but my car seems to leak into the area under the boot floor. I guess I could just sit in the back and persuade SWMBO to get the hosepipe out and see if I can see where it's coming in from and then look at ways to stop it. OR I could be pragmatic and just drill a couple of drain holes in the boot floor - has anyone tried this is there any downside. Geoff |

Yes, I've been having a look and although I did fit a tow bar recently the carpet on the left is wet (as you look into the boot) so as its higher up I suspect the seal. In the posts £94 is mentioned for a replacement I might try first with some non setting mastic. Maybe Sikaflex 512 or similar Geoff |

Geoff the replacement boot seals come with NON setting sealant inside them pal... So you remove your old one and CLEAN everything up then the new one seals as you fit it

Now thats interesting as I have had the seal off to lower the head lining so I could fit the rear dash camera and wiring ....hmmm need to look closly at the seal in the corners more. If it dont work.......burn it! If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF. If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser! If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !! |

Potentially your seal is now 11yrs old and removing/refitting it will have disturbed the already dried out sealant so, may well be your issue sir...

I think mine may have got disturbed when they fitted a new tailgate, or more likely the new tailgate can't bed in the existing seal which was bedded in by the previous tailgate - does that make sense? Geoff |

Thanks Craig, Just been out to check it has been ing in - I'll try the garage later if I have time but I'm not optimistic. Everything was soaked and needed taking out so this is pretty urgent and needs doing soon - they tend to need a couple of weeks just to get in the door of the service department even though since Ryans intervention they are at least willing. Geoff, make sure you get it properly dried out too my friend... I guess that is where electrical issues may stem from 5 years down the road |
