I have a 20 year old Lexus LS400 in my stable , rust free never misses a beat and sailed through it's MOT with no advisories. They just don't build cars quite like that now Sad The forums premier drug dealer and human trafficking consultant

Gonna go back to the X5 idea and do some more digging on it.

I cant accept that FF's are the only machine fit for ones lifestyle Big Cry

The only must with an X5 is remove the flaps as these are the cause of many engine failure, I think they are a great compromise, every time I get in mine I think how well built it feels compared to the FFRR or Disco it feels like a tank, it's not as plush as the Rangie but it drives much better if your a hard driver. Can't tell were your located but if your near me you are welcome to have a drive in mine. They are cheap to tax too after 2008 they drop to £200ish depending on model but don't expect to get BMW quoted mpg of 42mpg I get 32 normal 36 driving like a nun and 28 when I get the foot down lol

It's a 3.0d M Sport 2008 7 seater with pan roof, welcome to have a drive just give me a shout, you can have a drive of the FFRR side by side to compare and I bet you say the X5 feels better built. Very Happy

They will be a good buy now fuel prices have dropped and they go like stink, I had a go in the 4.4 V8 Twin Turbo X5M and they are very quick, the one I drove was remapped by DMS to 650BHP and if her indoors had not been with me I would of bought it, but she complains as I have too many cars, they love spoiling your fun. Very Happy

My 2 cents:
If you don't need/want the off-road ability, why not just get a large comfy saloon? Fuel economy will be less and less complexity should mean easier servicing. Audi A8? BMW 7? Jag XJ? I guess I'll mention the other suspect, MB Sclass, but I sometimes think MB is only around to make us Land Rover owners feel good about our servicing costs. Mr. Green
