when i had the bonnet up the earlier, i noticed an iregular ticking from the front of the engine, at tickover.

Does a tensioner bearing sound about right. Its not too loud (nearly inaudible) and disappears as i increase the revs. though there is a point where there is a bit of a continuous noise then it goes. its not the timing guides as I've had a listening rod on the cam cover and it is silky smooth.

Any ideas. Seems to be coming from the area under the air intake pipes from the filter housing.

Just had another listen and the mechanical fairy has been and sorted the problem while I had tea

Noise now gone. suspect it was possibly a bit of air in the system feeding through the water pump as I had just had the expansion tank out to look at chaffed hose under it, whereby dropping my stubby screwdriver into the viscous fan and having to root around for 20 mins to get the thing back out....

Will give it a run later and see if it returns

What is the script with the viscous fan, mine seems to run when it's cold, which doesn't seem right! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I get a repetitive clicking from front of engine bay when starting from cold. Cant seem to pin point exactly where. Bit strange. goes after a few mins. 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

think it was probably air bleeding through the system. Has been in today for the oil swap and the techs couldn't hear anything, though i doubt they listen hard. The only thing they ever seem to pick up is that it could do with a set of wipers..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
