Were the 235's an upgrade/extra then? I have never seen an LSE with 205's fitted! And we have worked on hundreds back in the day!

As I mentioned earlier 235's were never ever fitted to RR Classics as standard - they only started to fit them to the RR with the new P38, also at the same time as they started to fit Freestyle Alloys to Discoveries also equipped with 235's. The RR Classic was just out of production by this time.

They always needed a 235 and the 7" RR alloys are slightly too wide for the 205 but to be OE correct they should have 205's. Many owners upgraded to the new profile as their old tyres wore out - simply because they looked better and they became more readily available and usually cheaper than the 205 - as this was the profile most tyre dealers kept in stock in the mid 90's Thumbs Up 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I've still got my last Classic - she is on Goodyear 235's though Wink but other than that she is 100% OE with only 93k miles and every MOT - Plymouth Blue Thumbs Up 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Beginning to lose patience with the LSE

It now scares small children and animals due to the backfiring problem it's developed.

Had a flat battery at the weekend as the interior lights are stuck on (something else to add to the list to sort).

Then today I've just realised the MOT is due, so the to do list will get even longer, though as I suspect the backfire has taken out the catalytic convertor i see a SORN on the horizon

I am pretty sure you interior lights stuck on is the MFU (timing circuit) you can tell this as nothing timed e.g. intermittent wipers will work, if it is let me know and I will tell you how to fix this, takes about 10 mins Very Happy

Intermittent wipers were fine, as I was driving in drizzle yesterday so did use them. I ended up pulling the fuse so had no interior lights (or radio). I was planning to check all the door switches, but thinking about it the timer should have cut in to turn the lights off - I'll have have a look at the weekend, so any info about a quick MFU fix might be of use!

From memory, didn't the rear gate have a tilt device thing in it that use to stick and leave the interior lights on?

Mercury switch was it???

It is easy, just drop the fuse box under the steering wheel, 10mm bolts, then on the rear is a large multi plug remove the plug and unclip the MFU if its beige it is a latter type or black an early type, remove the covers off the MFU and resolder the joints onto the multi plug as they get dry joints and loose connection, while it's out check the other soldering and resolder if necessary, reseal it plug it back onto fuse box and job done. Very Happy
