Early EAS, Has anyone cracked the slow to lift symptoms?

My air suspension takes a long time to lift the car between heights, 25-30 seconds, this is the norm Sad . From what I gather the later system picks the car up a lot quicker, and I know that the P38 only takes a few seconds between height changes. So why does the 2002-2005 FFRR take a life time?

In my mind this can only be down to 2 things, not enough air or restricted air ways. Has anyone cracked this problem and how?

I tow trailers for the events industry, and regularly come across trailers that will not drop enough to hitch up to, I've then got to mess about with legs and lifting jockey wheels , or raise the back of the car. Yawn are we there yet ? Yawn This takes an eternity of standing at the back of the car holding the catch on the hitch open and wondering if anything is going to happen.......... looks like I've got a weak bladder Embarassed Evil or Very Mad

I can see but 3 reasons as to why everything is so slow,
One, the pump doesn't have a big enough output (cfm).
Two, there is not enough air in the system at pressure (tank too small).
Or three, the valve block / pipes are too small (not letting enough air in to the bags).

Now the pump is a lot bigger on the L322 than the P38, so I don't think this is the problem.
As far as I'm aware the tank is however smaller, so the problem could be lack of high pressure air that's the cause. Plus I do not know what pressures the systems run, but I know there is a difference between the early and late L322's.
It could be smaller bore valve blocks, of supply lines between the different models.

Can anyone shed some light on this, or do you have a fix Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

New Compressor!
New Valve Blocks
New Springs
New Lines
New ECU

In that order, but the first one will have the biggest impact.

Could try removing the Pressure Relief Valve (in boot), supposedly assists

Or drive into to your friendly LR dealer to see if there is a software upgrade .

your compressor is over 10 years old so i imagine its worn a bit... i would repair or replace to get it working quicker, thats if more speed is needed.. ... - .- -.

My compressor is less than 2 months old and was brand new not a referb, so I don't think that is to blame. I do remember the under lying theme of all the threads that I have read on early L322 EAS, is it is slow, very slow, I'm just trying to down grade it to P38 speed Laughing Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... i would have thought a new compressor would have pumped it up quicker..

what about the tank underneath [by the drivers door area ] could that be full of water ? ... - .- -.

Oh don't get me wrong, the new compressor will lift the car from entry height to offroad in just under a minute. Which from what I gather is the norm for the early cars, but I'm also lead to believe that the later cars with the Hitachi pump will do it in around 30 seconds Shocked That's twice as quick Evil or Very Mad
The car seams to take longer from normal to offroad than it does from entry to normal height? like twice as long, do you think that I have an ECU gremlin? And are there such things as software upgrades for the early EAS? Because the only upgrades that I can see are either a P38 or a post 2005 car Wink One I can't afford, and one I see as going backwards, I'll leave you to work out which is which Laughing Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... from access to standard is 40mm, from standard to off road is 60mm, only 10mm but maybe that's why it takes longer.. ... - .- -.

Hmmmmm don't like your maths much Stan, think you mean 20 mm, but I get the idea, makes sense to me, but can I improve on it? Like Clarksons answer to every thing MORE POWER! or should it be more air Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Mine takes about the same time to change heights, I think it's about normal.
I just have a nap while it's changing. Smile
As far as I can see the only way to speed things up would be more air capacity ie either a bigger tank or an additional tank in parallel to the original.
Not a difficult plumbing job, plenty of room under the car.
From memory the system operates at 13.7bar.

At last someone who's talking MORE AIR Thumbs Up
That has been my line of thinking, been mooching about on the RR.net hoping to find an answer, all I've found is the system has enough air for one lift and then it's Yawn are we there yet?
I do not think that my system is malfunctioning at the moment, it just appears to be slow, like every other early L322. I can only imagine that L/R slowed it down a bit to stop you spilling your G&T Wink But I think that they have gone too far the other way, and calmed it down in to an almost dormant state Evil or Very Mad I know that Haylands has an issue with the speed, or lack of, that his system operates at, and was hoping that someone has either fixed theirs or can remember a link to someone that has.
I do know that a minute from flat to high is the norm, and that the crazy Yanks are now playing about with the arms on the sensors to get an extra 2" of lift in all modes, and then adding a set of 33's and throwing the car off a cliff Shocked Shocked This does not seam like normal L322 behavior, but I'm a one to talk, pulling mobile toilets about with a FFRR gets a lot of comments Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... I've sourced a second compressor and plan on having a twin pump set up, shouldn't be too hard to plumb...

Mine does an initial pump up from the tank but stops when the tank pressure drops from it's full pressure of 188PSI to 140PSI... why doesn't it use the rest of the air?? It then uses the comp to finish pumping up....

I'd have done it by now if I hadn't been banned from my shed... only another few weeks and I'm allowed to play again.... I'll let you know how it goes.... Pete

Censored All this time to play and your not allowed Sad , Still it gives you plenty of time to plan every upgrade in detail so there wont be any head scratching, just action when the starter finally lets you go Thumbs Up
Where are you going to put the second pump? And are you planning to double up on all the sensors, or are you just going to run it via a relay and bypass all the annoying bits that go do lally , like the temp sensor on the pump head. Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I was going to piggy back the electrical connections, using just one temp sensor and "T" in the air lines.

I'm not using the sub woofer so was going to mount them there, high enough to keep them out of water if I go swimming again... Pete
