Has Jay had a look at them? The C pillars on mine were pretty scratched and he's worked wonders... |

He did and I am planning a refresh with him but I think he puts some sort of wax coating that eventually comes off. I think that LR have specced a plastic that isn't fit for purpose. |

I had this from new (well dealer PDI anyway). If you have your car machine polished get the detailer to polish these too and the scratches will vanish. They are just very soft plastic. I also had what looked like quite a nasty scratch on one of my rear light lenses which my detailer polished out. |

Hi,
The Detailing World UK forum has lots of information on subjects like this. Here are 2 x DW UK links and also an extract from one DW UK post which describes a TSB relevant to BMW shadow line trim: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/show...black+trim http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/show...amp;page=2 "... a bit of info from an old post I found from Bmw's Technical Service SUBJECT Discoloration of Shadowline Trim MODEL E46 (3 Series), E60, E61 (5 Series), E64 (6 Series), E65, E66 (7 Series), E83 (X3), E53 ( X5) Equipped with Shadowline exterior trim SITUATION The optional glossy black Shadowline exterior trim may become discolored. CAUSE Analysis has determined that the discoloration is due to a film deposited on the trim which distorts the light reflecting off the trim. These deposits may come from car washes, hard water, or other environmental conditions. CORRECTION Deposits that cause the discoloration can be easily removed by polishing with a quality swirl removing polish, such as Meguiars #9. Note: The glossy black trim pieces are anodized, not painted, and the discoloration does not mean that the surface has been damaged. Therefore, the trim pieces should not be replaced for this complaint. " ![]() |

No the C pillars are not anodised metal ! They are made of soft black plastic a little bit of elbow grease and some polish will bring back the just bought look. Or if it really drives you nuts you could get the plastic bits painted buy a professional that would sort it out . |
