This bit of advice had been nagging at me for several days so I decided to follow it today. It was a 250 mile round trip, but worth it because as CSK suggested, the previous owner did have a second set of wheels. I was told by the dealer they had supplied them for "crossing fields to the shoot" and the original wheels were now back on the car. I checked under the car as best I could and couldn't see any damage or clinging mud.

I'd not driven a 5.0 SC before so compared to my TD6 it was then . I almost pulled the trigger on it having convinced myself that 17mpg petrol is only a bit less than my current 23mpg diesel, but the trade-in offered was less than "We.Buy.Any.Car" so I may try to sell my Vogue privately.

I have the same style rims on my SC (2010/60) and they look great when they're clean, though do have a closer look at them - they're 'diamond cut' alloys and are expensive to refurbish. '17 RANGE ROVER L405 SDV8 AB LOIRE BLUE with INDUS SILVER ROOF

I get an average of 17.3mpg on my 4.2 SC so would imagine long term you should see better than 17mpg on a 5.0SC. Just get it, they are awesome. Sell your Td6 privately and get this, would love to get one but not justifiable at the moment.

There are two types of those wheels, shadow chrome painted and the more expensive (and more fragile) diamond cut ones...
