2005 FFRR rear fog lights not working

Has anyone come across this problem before? It appears that my rear fog lights have simply stopped working.

Its not any of the obvious things. I have LED rear light clusters fitted, I know that there isn't a connection problem to the lamp units as I can configure the fog lights to come on 'dim' with the tail lights. That works fine and proves that the LCM can turn the lights on, if it wants to!

I've checked absolutely everything to do with the lamps and the LCM. The indicator light on the cluster comes on as normal, but the lights just dont come on at the back end of the car.

The front fog lights work perfectly.

I cant see any issues in the LCM configuration.

Is there some sort of interlock that disables the rear fogs when a trailer lighting connector is plugged in? I've towed recently and am wondering if there could be a connection. I haven't checked the trailer socket yet...... I suppose that's my next thing on the list!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. MOT time is approaching and I know that it won't get through without working fog lights!

I can only ask the obvious , does your car have auto head lights ? Because fog lights only work in manual head light mode on the rotary switch . 2008 MY Supercharged

Yes it does.

It's possible to enable fog lights to work in 'auto headlamp mode', Mine however only work with the headlamps turned on manually. Or with the sidelights on, providing that the front foglights are turned on first.

I've spend all day trying to work out why they won't come on. I have totally drawn a blank, and am starting to think that there might be someting wrong with the LCM. Has anyone else had LCM problems? there doesnt seem to be much on t'internet about LCM issues!

Its a 2005. The 'inbetween model' as I've heard it described.

Mmmm. Well, yes it has got 2010 rear lights. But they've been fitted for months without any problems (not as yet, anyway!)
I don't have navcoder, but I do have MSV-2.

It almost seems like the rear fogs are being interlocked against coming on. If I set rear fogs on in the follow me home settings, they come on as normal. If I turn them on using the switch, the indicator lamp on the cluster comes on, but no foglights!

i think you will find that the fog rear fogs will not work when you use the 2010 rear lights, the lcm is different, i dont think i know any one that has done the conversion has had them working, they had to disconnect them to stop the errors, who done the conversion..?
i may be wrong but lets see if any one on here can confirm this.... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

I fitted the LED rear lights several months ago - back in April. When I first fitted them, the fog lights were 'lit' with the tail lights. This was easily solved as 'rear fogs dim with tail lights' is an option that I presume must be normally set to 'on'. I turned this option off, problem solved and the fog lights worked perfectly well independantly of the tail lights.

I did however suffer from 'flashing' of the LED lights during LCM 'cold monitoring' checks. Again, this was easy to disable.

The tail and fog lights draw enough current to satisfy the 'hot monitoring' checks, but the indicators did not, I disabled hot monitoring on all of the replacement cluster lamps as I wasn't particularly concerned about 'bulb failure' with the new lamp units.

So this was all months ago. Since then I have had no warnings or alarms. The problem with the fog lights is new.

Finally resolved this problem by using the fog light feed to the trailer socket. Not the perfect solution, but a simple wiring mod that at least gets all lights fully functional!

Paul,

I have exactly the same "in between" 2005 model as yourself and was interested to understand how you managed to resolve the dim fog light with side lights issue.

I have also done the 2010 rear led light conversion and have the problem of the fog lights staying on with the side lights.

I noticed that you accessed the LCM and changed the setting from 'rear fogs dim with tail lights' from on to off.

I have not managed to find this setting in the LCM. Will take another look but did this resolve your problem, prior to the towing issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
