United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Stornoway Grey

We went to the Manchester evening news arena, parked in the secure parking area only to come out and find the car missing.
Most worrying is the theif was captured on CCTV walking up to the car face concealed by a cap, standing by it for about three minutes and then getting in.Another three minute wait and then driving off. He actually stopped at the barrier and paid!!
The police do not think it is a chance joyrider but stolen to order.A keycode generator may have been used to get in and something called a wiggle or wibble which goes in the ignition key barrel and moulds to the internals,it is then locked and hey presto. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem!!

Wonder if you could get the MEN Area on the fact that their secure car park is not in fact secure........................ and you got mis-sold with your parking. Could it possibly have been an "inside" job by an employee as it is a so-called secure car park? 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

My concern is how the insurers value it and what they will offer.
Then finding another that ticks all the boxes.
They wont pay out for 28 days, but they will cover for a hire car, probably a Censored Nissan micra!!! If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem!!

Feel for you big time Fella. Absolute Censored .

Knowing how it feels - I had a car stolen a few years back - it's a really hideous feeling for the first few minutes while you figure out that it is actually gone. But if you're anything like me you won't want it back. Mine was recovered and although I went through it twice with every cleaning material imaginable it still felt sullied. I sold it shortly after cos I hated being in it.

Best advice is to keep quiet for the 28 days. Don't bother anyone over it and pray you don't get it back. In the meantime, start doing the searches for a new one. Yes it's awkward but actually I found it quite fun.

All the best anyway. Hope it all works out well for you.

Did you need a parking ticket to get out or is it a fixed fee?

Just as a heads up to other owners.
Apparently the car thief positions himself within 10 metres of you as you lock your car with the remote,he uses a gadget to record the radio signal, the gadget then generates an unlock code.
He gets in uses the key thingy and away he goes cool as you like.
Apparently getting quite common, some new top end motors use random radio codes which causes the scumbag a problem. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem!!

They were also discussed in The Sunday Times In Gear section recently, apparently the way to avoid your plippers transmissions being received by anybody else is to operate it very very close to the car and not from 4-5mtrs away from the car, also unlock and relock the car a couple of times before you walk away. IIRC LR, like most car makers, use rolling code systems anyway - that is what has made it so hard for scumbags up to now. Maybe time to boost Royal Bank of Scotlands profits for this year and pay the subscription to get the Trakker enabled........ 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Bruce,
Just read of your misfortune. Very sorry to hear of this.
I collected my car yesterday and the dealer was extolling the virtues of the double locking and saying that a thief would have to climb in through a broken window.
My thoughts are that if it's been made by a human being, then it can be undone, jigged, frigged or whatever yo might care to call it.
I shall be making my own security device to avoid this happening and not relying upon the manufacturer of either the car, or security system.
I hope that you haven't lost anything of personal value from within the car.

Not 100% sure what it is scarey but it is some sort of Frequency jammer that you can get not just from Maplins but other places as well, it's just this day and age companies will make anything that makes them money ...... ====================================
