Even in a large cinema, 1080p is very impressive. 2160p might be okay for a computer desktop, if you have a 28" display and sit a foot away. For video, it's just a number to impress the neighbours.

actually 4k and even 6 and 8k exist

4k is over 3000 pixels wide

Correct.

I think some films shot in 70mm have been scanned for archive purposes in 8K.

I can see that for a primary archive file, but it's a little strange as a YouTube setting.

imax is stunning to see

and some of the latest telecine scanning tech is amazing

i have a 2560 wide desktop and for some kinds of stuff is rocks

but your right its a weird on for youtube, unless its about showing off the latest red camera or something

Have just replace my telly with a 4k, looks great tbh but most of the 4k content I can find is just promo stuff, but the upscaled 1080 stuff is great. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

lots of movies being shot in 6 and 8k recently

i just shot some corporate stuff in 4k for a floor to ceiling video wall. and it looks amazing
