Blackberry Passport

Its seems that Blackberry have had it going forward.

I am a long time Blackberry user/supporter and I still prefer the way the Blackberry works with email/messaging to Android/Iphone and I love a proper keypad.

My only issue is/was Screen Size on the Q10, I was therefore going to upgrade to the Blackberry Passport in July when allowed by Vodafone.

However having tried to get a look/feel of one I have been to every dam phone shop in south west Hertfordshire and not one not one shop or phone company is stocking them (or any blackberry).

Land Rover have introduced inControl but only for Android/Iphone and the same is repeated for just about every new/good app being developed.

I wanted to stick with Blackberry but it is now becoming obvious that I am going TO HAVE to switch to a Samsung S5/Note 4, HTC M8 just to be able use all the excellent technology that is being developed and will continue to be developed without reference to Blackberry...

Sad day for me but I guess they call it progress Big Cry

Market forces Gary. I've used a BB for business for a number of years, primarily because that's what my company supplied but as you say, from a business perspective, it did the job.

Sadly though, market forces have meant that BBs are no longer (if indeed they ever were) seen as "cool", so once people jump ship, that's the end of any further development. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Agree with everything you say re the positive's of the Blackberry and I am a long term devotee BUT I felt I had no choice and moved over to the 'dark side' a few months ago and got an iphone - still don't really get on with it, but that's probably and age thing - well that's what my kids tell me anyway Confused

I always said I would never have an iPhone, but now that I have one I wish I had bought it sooner

If it hadn't been a hand me down (iphone 4 S), neither would I - never been a big fan of the apple operating system.

From a business point of view, even after all this time Apple still doesn't work properly with all Microsoft applications - or is that just me and my age again Confused

Most people I know with a Blackberry also have another phone - which to me is an indication of failure.

I would never buy apple - had an ipod once and hated it - but while I quite like my android there an awful lot wrong with the business model and the way it works.

Why does almost every app want access to all the features on your phone so they know where you are and what you're doing? Why are so many simple things an app that you must download together with the advertising - e.g. flashlight?

If they just made a blackberry that looked like a HTC M8 but with a small keypad and APP developers actually made BB compatible APPs I am sure they would sell..... Big Cry

Forced into using BB, told company it wasn't happening. Thus I have a barely used Z10 They lost it after the Bold 9900.

Aside from a couple of old Vaios I'm exclusively apple now and wouldn't go back. I'm an engineer who uses a lot of unix based systems, the Macbook Pro does everything I need and hasn't missed a beat.

That makes it a lot cheaper than an £800 Vaio that needs rebuilding depending on how much development work I have to do.

^ Not really.....

Blackberry Products really were/are different from Android/Apple and I prefer them. Anyone who has not used the latest BB operating system will not realise that its really rather good. I have several Ipads/Iphones/Android Tablets/Android phones and I prefer the BB operating system. I just want it to use Android Apps effectively and have a big screen. Mine accepts android apps (Jailbroken) but not those that need Google Play Services.

Anything past my Desktop Windows7 is not for me. As I said not looking to be persuaded by attractive alternatives just want a Blackberry with keypad big screen and android app capability. Passport may still be that phone....

Installing Android Apps On BlackBerry Passport
The BlackBerry Passport and BlackBerry 10.3 OS have nothing to do with Google or its Android platform. But thanks to the power of QNX, BlackBerry users can install Android applications directly onto BB10.3-powered units like the BlackBerry Passport (note: older versions of the OS require you to side-load the applications). This means all you have to do to get Android applications (things like Chrome, Drive and Instagram) up and running on your BlackBerry Passport is download a client like SNAP –– SNAP gives you full access to most of Google Play’s applications direct from your BlackBerry Passport, which, obviously, is bloody awesome –– or browse through the numerous third-party stores that offer APK files for BB10, such as:
