Does anyone know of any companies that do this at all or is it best to just try a normal engineers shop as i dont want to check an almost brand new disc away for the sake of a few minutes being ground true again

Sure it was done on Wheeler Dealers(i know, i know!) but thought maybe it does exist in the real world. IIRC they did it on a boxster that was out of true.. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

To be honest the tolerance on them thickness wise is from memory not a lot 2/3mm each side so you may well grind past it I will try and find the thickness tolerance

The thing is while it may only allow 2-3mm wear cutting them true should take a lot less than that as iirc even .1mm uneven wear causes the symptoms I'm feeling

Discs rarely warp, if they're newish discs it's most likely uneven pad deposits which you might be able to scrub off.

Deffo a bit of warp as a slide pin became solid. Cleaned it all out and freer and a ho's drawers but the small vibration is still there despite my braking purge to clean out the pad deposits so Deffo needs a light skim it's very slight but I caught it early I hope. You could do a dial test but like the others I doubt the disc is actually warped it almost never happens unless it wan miss manufactured . Tolerance on the discs is 1. 6 mm so not allot to play with. 2008 MY Supercharged

Symptoms are,

Very very light vibration after a minute or two at sustained speed over 50 and then when below that speed.
Applying brakes results in more severe vibration from the front passenger wheel.


I checked the caliper and found a slightly seized slide pin so cleaned it out and well greased it up as well as other pin and now sweet as a nut.
Cleaned he pads a little with a light sand paper swiping.

I'll see how much this is to do, a new disc is £40 so if it's more than £20 I'll pot the idea and just buy a new disc.

The discs and pads all round aren't that old and haven't covered many miles so hardly worn but drove fine for 3 tankfuls of diesel before hand so warping is the only logical conclusion.

A run out test will confirm it but they reckon it takes 9mins per disc so worth a shot if they only take 30mins all in  FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

As an update to this i bought a new disc genuine for £30 delivered:)

Fitted it after cleaning up the caliper sliders and job was a good en.

Then i got less subtle symptoms again.

The water test showed it was the drivers rear caliper sticking

Can i just mention to forum members... Please consider doing BOTH rear callipers together! I seem to read coutless times on here about members finding "the other side is now sticking" usually within months of having the first changed...

This runs the risk of ruining another set of disks/pads/brake fluid/wheel bearing's etc etc etc and imho is false economy & bad practice if carried out by garages...

Well after a test run last night it appears to be sorted fingers crossed.

Who could possibly tell you the pitfalls of trial & error on a FFRR sir

Just wanted in-experienced members to understand how much they can A, ruin on there car & B, how much money they can be taken advantage for by not changing both...
