TPMS Woes

Keep getting a ransom but very frequent 'Check All tyre pressures' warning in both the message centre and the amber warning light. Mechanic said there are no fault codes and all sensors are reporting in OK. Longer motorway drives sometimes temporarily fix the problem but it soon returns.

(Yes, tyres do have the correct air pressure in them.). One tyre has a slow leak, so it does require topping up.

Battery and alternator just checked and are good.

It's annoying! Big Cry Any ideas/helpful suggestions? Bow down thx

Yes, you're right. I just checked and they aren't required by law in Canada. However, I was wanting to get a fix instead of just binning them. Very Happy

Although your car is quite new the batteries may be running low. They normally last for around 7 years. On Ebay you can find sets that are quite reasonably priced but make sure you have to correct frequency, you need the North American frequency (same band as the keys), 315 MHz if I remember correctly (but please check).

On mine the TMPS is working perfectly and has been since I have it although the batteries should be empty by now , maybe the heat here allows them to last longer. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

They do appear to be more bother than they are worth for some people. Personally, at the first sign of ongoing problems I would bin them rather than spend money repairing/replacing. Previously..

As above Thumbs Up

I would also bin them due to the corosion problems you get on the valve stems.

In answer to your issue, it is probably the batteries on their way out as has already been suggested. Temperature and the amount of miles you RR does will affect the battery life 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

If you are getting 'check all tyres' message I'd suggest that points more towards the RF reciever module or possibly TPMS ECU.

@ Katash - the check all tyres message indicates one of the road wheels is either low on pressure or not returning a signal.

I took SteveMFr advice and turned my TPMS last year after investigating the system.

The TMPMS system is good and effective when the batteries in the sensors are in good condition, its only problem is corrosion of the valve stems which is just dangerous. 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Ah I thought it would return individual sensor status, mine warns when the spare in the boot is low and states 'Check spare tyre pressure' or something similar.

My valves are corroded (but not too bad) - changing the rear tyres tomorrow so decided to do the sensors while I am at it.

I've recently replaced all 4 TPMS sensors but still get an intermittent message light on the dash. Very annoying given the outlay on 4 new sensors. Now I have 6 months warranty from Stratstone and would like them to look into it, does anyone know if this is covered?

Thanks.

Remember, you have FIVE. It could be the one on the spare causing the problem if everything else is good. The spare tyre TPMS won't automatically synch with the car like the other four.

I've replaced all the tyre pressure sensors and still have the warnings. Front nearside is registering 0 volts apparently, next step is a new ecu
