iPod songs not playing right

bought a 2010 range rover 2 months ago. just got a free iPod link lead off the salesman.
connects the iPod with no problem. but the songs won't play right.
could the songs be in the wrong file format?
or maybe the link cable is no good, it looks right.
maybe another fault for dealer to sort.
anyone else had this problem?

Mine is a 2010 MY which came without a lead - I bought a genuine lead off ebay a couple of weeks ago and it works fine with both my iphone 4s and ipod touch Thumbs Up

It apparently came out of a RR Sport, but when I checked the part number of the lead, it was compatible - the LR part number for mine was LR19691

salesman found this lead in a drawer. no part number.
label near plug with MITSUMI stamp.
label shows
AH22-19H461-AA
LFS02400-001 D
5730064/ 100620
SSCl-UK
tried with an iPod Classic and iPhone 4, connects and controls both ok, just songs not playing right.
i don't want want to go into dealers AGAIN. if its something I'm doing wrong.
i could do with testing my kit on another range rover and someone else's working kit on mine.
just had a brain wave.. neighbour across from me has a 2010 jaguar x something or other.
think i will have a word tomorrow, i think the jag uses same lead, doubt he has an iPod or lead though.
cheers Thumbs Up
