Accessory +12v Purple / White on cassette?

Hi all, I'm adding a TPMS to the 'Git' after I drove a few miles on a flat tyre without knowing it, until I came to a roundabout Shocked . I had a mate in the car, so the radio was off, we didn't hear anything, feel anything, the first that we knew about it was when we turned a corner. I'm just glad that it was a roundabout and not a sweeping bend on a country lane, otherwise this would be coming to you from hospital.
Having had to buy another General AT @£160, because the tyre was worn to the cords inside, and bearing in mind that the tyre was under 5k old, I wasn't too impressed with my self levelling magic carpet ride suspension. Yes it may well give you the smoothest ride possible, but it will also let you carry on unknowing when you've a puncture.
So as I tow for a living, I've decided to fit a TPMS, so that I don't get caught out again, especially if I'm towing.
Now the kit I've gotten hold of is a pro fit, and needs to be hard wired to a +12v accessory feed. So I'm looking for a +12v accy feed thats at the front of the car and can be got at without stripping the the whole interior, so I've looked at the wiring diagrams Confused , and I'm a bit lost Sad , I can follow a normal Diagram when it looks like an underground map, but these new ones that are on multiple pages and consist of a lot of numbers and no real symbols........HELP!!
The unit only has a 1 Amp fuse in the in line holder, so it doesn't need to be a main power feed. But it also needs to be a switched feed, that wont screw up the Ibus. God knows that my ECUs are cranky enough, without giving them an excuse to play up.
Seeing that the dash top is an easy removal job and doesn't involve forcing 5 year olds into the foot well or glove box, I was thinking that the feed to the cassette / TV looked promising. Or is there an easier feed behind the dials? Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Fuse 7 on the front fuseboard behind the glove box is un-used and is ignition controlled. Put a piggy-back connector in the space with a 3A fuse in it and away you go. Thumbs Up

I was rather hoping not to have to strip out the glove box, I know what a mission it is!
But if all else fails its a postive place to start Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

You don't have to strip the glove box out to get to the fuseboard. Just open the glovebox and then press down on the front edge and the fuseboard is there in front of you.
Couldn't be easier. Rolling Eyes

Stan The lighter is a perminant live from the battery, so Sad
nicedayforit, I realise that by pluging into fuse 7 with a piggy back connector doesn't require the removal of the glove box, but getting the wires for the monitor to the top of the dash will, and therefore I'm very keen to find a higher tapping point! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... You drop the wire from the piggyback connector out thro the bottom of the fuseboard into the accessible space below by removing the panel and then running the cable up behind the rubber trim at the door opening to the top of the dash.
Alternatively you can pop of the end panel off the dash and access the space below the dash top to run the cable to wherever you wish. 10minutes. Thumbs Up

What about the sunroof switch ? Not sure of amperage feed, and it is ignition fed, not acc, but could be a hell of a lot easier..... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I was thinking of trying to pick up a feed from the windows, until I looked at the wiring diagram! Hadn't considered the sunroof feed, as I'm a wee bit weary about removing the pillar trim, due to airbags. Call me a scaredy cat but if it goes BANG![b] Big Cry I get frighted! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

You can get from the glovebox direct to the grill where the middle speaker is in the dash, use a straightened coat hanger or the like and poke it down through the hole after removing the grill and speaker, aim it towards the fusebox and there is quite a large hole to get it through, tape the wire to the end and carefully pull it back through... Pete

Apologies, for some reason, I did imagine you were mounting something near the rear view mirror, perhaps on the sunroof switch panel, hence my suggestion.

If it's going at the bottom of the screen at the top of the dash, then you'd be better using Petes method.
