Off for a bit of autumn vanning!

Thought I would try and get a few more trips in this year, so we are off to chirk castle caravan club site this weekend.

Never been, looks quite nice and is attached to national trust property. Quite looking forward to it!

Will have to clean the van out first though as it is still full of tat from when we went to the Peak District a couple of weeks back, I suppose there has to be pain before a reward! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Don't be daft Stan, we have all mod cons now......

Heating included! Gas and electric, warm and toasty.

Nice weekend site Lady Margaret's park, afternoon out at chirk castle and a walk along the canal and viaduct on sun. V relaxing. Little bit of noise from the Cadbury factory, but not too bad, and we were as close to it as you could get on the site, I suspect if we had arrived earlier we could have got on the other side of the site away from the ba ground noise. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I've thought about getting a couple more weekends in before storing it away for the winter. We went to The Old Oaks in glastonbury last November which was a great site. We were the last ones to pull off on the day the site closed for the winter.

We're away in Udo, my 22 year old RMB Mercedes motorhome, next week.

Staying reasonably local at a lovely C&CC site next to the Thames.

Udo's fully winterised. All his tanks are insulated and he has gas and diesel heating on separate systems, plus he's fully double-glazed.

This'll be his last trip this year, other than needing an MOT and a quick check over in November. Then he's back into his heated storage for a winter sleep until February. Si. <This is my name.

It helps if the Van is winterised with heated double floor and has the special "Winter Comfort" pack walls filled with Styrofoam rather than polystyrene. This coupled with Truma Gas/Electric heating with room thermostat keep the van as warm as you want it for as long as you want it. Dethleffs are popular in Scandinavia for this very reason. Smile

As we use our 'van all year round I won't bore you with the reasons why and how easy it is....but we've never been cold, never been stuck, never been bored and never not enjoyed it...

One must never 'slum' it in a motorhome, darlings.

As is tradition with us, we always christen each new vehicle arrival by taking it out for a meal somewhere.

In Udo's case, it was a campsite near Banbury one freezing cold late November.

This was our first meal. Takeaway fish n' chips and mushy peas and a rather lovely bottle of Bolly.

We went outside after putting the little people to bed and gazed at the stars through a crystal-clear sky, single malt whisky in hand and sat on immensely comfortable Isabella reclining chairs and covered by a warm fleece. Glorious!

Bolly in plastic glasses.... Top notch Thumbs Up

Just replaced some of the plastic in mine with some nice glassware (actual smashable glass) ready for the fizz! Nice bottle of Laurent Perrier rose for swmbo methinks this weekend, and bottle of lagavullin for me well part of a bottle at least) There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
