If you were going to spend £50-60k on some "restored" muscle what would you choose?

That black Charger I mentioned in my previous post would be a good example.

Or a 455 Trans-Am.

Or a Mustang of some description.

I'd put the TA and Mustang an equal second.

Prices for the Charger were more reasonable a few years ago, which is my initial point. Would an 'investment' of £20,000 on a lesser-desirable model now be able to acrue to a value that justifies spending the money? Si. <This is my name.

Trying to wring out of you what you REALLY want rather than what makes financial sense....

I saw Vanishing Point, and while I quite liked the car, my favorite vehicle in the movie was this motorcycle.

Kurt, you don't want the bike. You just want the saddle. Mr. Green

Gary, I gsthered.

Charger first due to DofH and the looks and power.

The '71 Mach 1 may take second place as the original Eleanor was a '71 Mach 1 (dressed to look like a '73, admittedly). I've always loved the shape, though. Far prefer that to any other Mustang by far. Ironically, Lee Iacocca hated it and nicknamed it the 'fat pig'.

A Firebird / Trans-Am because of THAT film, but again also the looks and the power in the very early 70's.

A Challenger is also on the list. Again, celluloid plays a large part but no denying the looks, presence or the performance.

All four are complete packages with looks, performance, image and pedigree in equal measure. In my opinion, of course.

Those are my absolute favourites. They're somewhat predictable choices, but you did ask. Si. <This is my name.

At the end of the day, is it being bought purely as an investment or because its a dream car?
They are both pretty desirable cars and I can't see you losing money on them. One might increase in value a bit more than the other but so what... Follow your heart. Previously..

What a lovely car - I had a 71 429 Mach 1 many years ago in the US - still gutted now that I sold it on. Other than the rear visibility, it was a wonderful car... 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE
