Wet carpet help!!

Just noticed that the carpet in the front passenger foot well is wet. Any ideas where the water is getting in? What has fallen off today:-)

Loads of threads on here if you have a quick search.

As I see it, the upshot is using the nylon cord from as trimmer to feed down the drain tubes from the sunroof tray. The nylon is flexible enough to go round the curves but strong enough to push out most blockages.

Don't use an air line, as it tends to blow the pipe off the connector in the roof, and then you'll really have a leak.

If you open the Sunroof, you will see the entrances to the drain holes in the front corners. Do you have any signs of water failing to drain from the sunroof? (this would suggest a blocked tube or tubes although i would have thought this would also cause the headlining to become damp)

Also, prob worth checking that the door seal hasnt come adrift / got a bad patch or damage anywhere. Water leaks can be a pig to find, as water travels in such a sneaky manner Crying or Very sad

If you do think the drain tubes are blocked, Heavy Duty strimmer cord is good for unblocking them, but this won't help if the thing has become detached somewhere inside, although it may tell you if you have a detached drain tube as the cord probably won't appear under the vehicle when you expect it to.

Best of luck Thumbs Up 2006 (56 Reg) 4.4 V8 Vogue In Bonatti Grey (Gorgeous!!)

Another check is the AC drain tubes perhaps (rear of transmission I think which leave the wet patch under the car). Before the FF I had a Disco which did the wet carpet which I used off-road a lot and the rubber drains got blocked causing the same issue as the drain system overflowed.

Or it could be this........

Take the side panel in the footwell next to the radio off and there is a black rubber cap that covers part of the air con /heater xsystem. It's quite common for it to leak so replace it or reseal it with some silicon. 5.0 supercharged autobiography

Don't think it's the sunroof as poured water down and it drained away fine. Will try windscreen next. What has fallen off today:-)

Still don't know where it's getting in Big Cry took the front seat out and removed the carpet all the foam was soaked, the gully where the wiring loom sits was full of water. Dried it out and then soaked it with the hose. No water came in. Poured coloured water down the drain in the sun roof and it came out the drain at the bottom as it should.

Door seals seem fine too. Will keep looking. Sad What has fallen off today:-)

Hi

Did you manage to find a solution to your problem? I seem to have a very similar problem, passenger footwell getting very wet after heavy rain and particularly if parked facing downhill, making me think the leak is from the rear somewhere and running forward. Since parking uphill no leaks even after heavy rain???
