Dropped car off at local garage to investigate an oil leak

I suspect either cam cover or head gasket on offside block Sad

Removed under radiator shield tray and viscous fan for a better look. Probably been seeping oil over the years with previous owner but never dripped to date - there again I never gun the engine but did do on Saturday and now I feel the price for that momentary lapse of reason.

Well, I still can't drive it due to the DVLA dragging its feet, but that's not stopped me buying some new mats, spraying the passenger wing mirror with lacquer, buying a new reversing camera as well as connectors for the iPhone and also some coloured leather balm and sill protectors. Next week some side steps and a towbar and then hopefully I can look forward to some 15 mpg enjoyment - nothing better than spending money on a thing of beauty 😍 Geoff

Relief - turned out to be cam cover gasket leak.

Anyone know if it is worth doing the PCV system at same time or does the dismantling for cam cover not really make pcv any easier (with exception of large vent tray across top/ back of engine)

Just got back from covering 2200 miles in 2 weeks for a climbing trip to Verdon in the South of France. Don't envy those that were in the two 9 seater minibuses...

Dropped the oil today and fitted a new filter.... which leaked ! Seems that the Fram filter was supplied with a thin filter lid O ring that was just not up to the job. Re used the old one for now and leak cured instantly. Threw in an air filter and a pollen filter as well. Which way should the airflow arrow point when inserting the pollen filter...up or down ?

Having to use SWMBO's car till Friday, had the FF in last week to get the track control arms, ball joints and track rod ends replaced...now it's got a horrible metal clunking from the front passenger side, so went back in last saturday for investigations.

Forgot just how fast and powerful the Mondeo ST220 is compared to the doozel fattie, lucky I didn't pass any rozzers as I'd have probably lost my licence!! Whistle

Replaced Battery - was not as heavy as I was led to believe so that was a bonus.

Removed lamp guards - will place them on For Sale section soon so PM me if you are interested in the meantime.

New Chrome twin fin side vents and front grille - PM me if you would like a pair of original side vents (double vent)

Washed off Seagul poop from last visit to Rhyl.

A good day working on my FFRR Smile
