Going to buy (probably) a 3.6 Vogue Se etc .... looking at 09 (budget!) ... coming across ads saying 'with upgrades' ... can someone please tell me what the upgrades are so that I'm getting the latest 09 available ... or should I save up a little more an get a 2010 model to make sure?

Not sure what is meant by upgrades!

Spec is spec, have a search on here here is plenty about the relative spec levels and what you get.

If there are a few options available at each spec level, but there aren't really any upgrades!

The difference between a 09 and 10 model year is quite significant, new front end, tft dash, better infotainment, but the downside is you lose the brembo brakes....

If you can be more specific we can probably tell you whether or not the dealer knows his stuff or is talking "up" some standard features! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Sorry you didn't understand my post ... several ads saying 'upgrades' and 'uprated spec' so I assume they changed the spec in 09 and wondered what the changes were ... trying to make sure I'm looking for the latest I can get around that date for my money ... no specific car or salesman ... several ads on Autotrader. Don't want to get the older spec .... when you say new front end what are the differences I'm looking for? At the moment I wouldn't know the new front end if I fell over it! ......... hence my question. Many thanks for any help.

be cautious with cars described as facelift, check that they are the right model year for the front they have on, there are quite a few older cars which have had the newer front put on to update them, nothing wrong with this, but may catch out those not in the know.

Look for the interior too

Upgrades could mean almost anything.
- some accessories purchased for the car (eg floor mats, roof racks, towing equipment)
- parts replaced with later, upgraded units (I have a "upgraded" coolant reserve tank.)
- some cars (often the diesels) have been upgraded by chipping the engine, usually for more power)
- these cars have many computers, so they get software updates just like your computer or smart phone.

Any or all of these is a possibility.

Oh 'eck! ... sounds like a regular minefield ... I shall go out armed with 'monkeyjones' pics and try to sound knowledgeable when faced with a friendly trustworthy salesman! (never met one yet!)
