Or a dodgy connection between the TV and nav ?

You've probably got a dodgy connection in the blue plug, possibly due to past water "issues".

Thanks for the tips guys, I think its most likely the connector on the satnav, as it was fine up until the point it was disconnected. Would be a massive coincidence if the tv failed at the same time..
