There are huge oil reserves just off the west coast which were agreed not to be drilled because of trident, the Shetland oil field is believed to have more oil in it than has been extracted from the north sea to date. Oil WILL run out but the reason Westminster is so desperate is that it wants the money until it does, much like in the middle east.

If there was an issue with Trident or Coulport, the last thing we would be thinking about is a bloody yes/no vote, the whole island and most of western Europe would be gone, so IMHO not an valid point

The biggest issue with trident is what a huge waste of money it is, modern warfare and indeed what various PM's call war or to make it nicer conflict has changed.

Your average terrorist doesn't care if you have trident and to be honest they just attack with weapons we or allies actually gave them to start with. You think IS and their horrendous campaign will illicit a nuclear reaction, what do you think will?

The West's Nuclear Weapons are the reason Russia does not simply invade several Eastern Europe countries and keeps China in check.

They are deterrent only and dam good one at that. Check out the lack of world wars since their invention....
