quick question - i got a 12v (1.5w) charger from maplin with a cigarette charger on it, am i right in thinking that it need to go in the back power socket in the boot as opposed to the one in the front for it to charge?

^ Correct... It needs to be plugged into a permanently live socket.
And because size does matter, here is a picture of mine...

+1 on getting the battery drain sorted.

ta, i have tints on my windows so am guessing not as much juice would get in if left it on the parcel shelf but as long as the blue led is flashing then it should work... i will give it a whirl......

On the contrary, I had many days like this - and it was April!

I used to have a slim one permanently plugged into the boot and resting (on a non-slip pad) on the shelf at the right of the boot (at parcel shelf height).

It generally did a good job (I think). I have two cars so in the summer, the Rangie gets little use.

Two 10 w Aldi panels connected to my classics 6 months in the UK all four battery's at full charge when I got home

rangies started no worries.......(dual battery set ups)

LM in the shed flat as a tack, all day and night on a trickle charge to bring the battery back (fine now)

it will be interesting to see if the TDV8 starts after nearly 4 months in a container it should as they disconnect the battery.

solar in OZ is the way to go if you leave your cars for long periods of time

I thought you were supposed to unplug it when you drove the car?
