Help with diagnostics/repairs SW London/Surrey

Just phoned Guy Salmon Thames Ditton, first available slot 9th September !!
I have 'Engine System Fault' or Terrain response' message after the dreading 'bing' and then it goes into limp mode.
Stop restart and back to normal, now done it 6 times with no pattern as to when or where.
Can anybody recommend an independent or garage with diagnostics within reasonable distance of Surbiton near Kingston upon Thames.

Hello Steves025uk...before checking her in for expensive diagnostics, its worth checking the turbo hose for splits (the TDV8 is notorious for them)

Here's a link to the thread which talks about how to temp repair, but it gives you the heads up. I understand a complete novice (like me) can swap the hose.

I assume your battery / charging is ok too?? another weak point.

Hi,

If you're seeing black smoke on acceleration then the turbo hose is the most likely cause. I replaced mine myself and I'm dangerously clueless about mechanical matters Smile

Do you see the Terrain response warning at the same time? I only ever saw the Engine System Fault on mine when this happened so you might have more than one issue.

I agree with Paul that if you start seeing multiple faults then the battery is a good place to start.

Thanks Guys, but recently had the Bosch battery upgrade with a charger in the boot.
I have checked the hoses and they are both fine.
I have booked it into Germantech in Raynes Park Wimbledon. They share premises with the Range Rover/Land Rover specialist Wimbledon Specialist Cars (where I bought the car) and do all the work on their cars for them. They also has Wimbledon Land Rovers adjacent (but main dealer prices).

The Garage found the problem with the car going into limp mode, as you guys advised split intercooler pipe.
To be done under warranty.

Nice result Thumbs Up

Mines been in for some fettling today (4 wheel alignment, new ARB drop links, rear / front diff fluid change) and apparently they spotted a small seep from the thermostat housing..circa £300 to replace the T-housing Big Cry

The cars "wallet-emptying ECU" is certainly working well today Sad GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus
