V8 Supercharged will be replaced soon by V6 Supercharged?

I've read in a reputable French magazine "Sport Auto" that JLR plans to drop the V8 Supercharged engine in the big L405 replacing it by the V6 Supercharged. V8 Supercharged will only be availbale in the Sport so they say.
Is this correct? Probably buying a stock V8 Supercharged right now so wanted to know if I need to hurry in order to pick one of the last (proper) V8 petrol Range Rover.

People are always reporting the death of V8's - petrol and diesel, but they keep on going.

I think if they did replace it with a V6 it would be a hybrid. Just my guess though.

Apparently they are keeping the V6 and V8 Diesels but the V8 Supercharged petrol is the one which is being replaced by a V6 Supercharged. Anyone got any insider information on this?

There would be absolutely zero point in this as I'm pretty sure performance of the SDV8 is better than the V6SC!

V8 diesel is surely the one to go first.

Plenty of demand for big petrol engines where fuel is cheap.

I would expect the V8 diesel to be replaced by something smaller. Economy and emissions standards mean smaller engines are inevitable, in Europe at least.

V8 Discovery is dead in the US now. Replaced by some crappy V6. Graham

That would be the same crappy 380BHP supercharged V6 that adorns the F type then I guess. Whistle Whistle

I'll take that over a log burner any day. Bags of torque, smooth as silk, sounds the business and goes like stink. What's not to like?

As the owner of a 6 cylinder Range Rover I have to object ....agree. Sad

Better than having no Range Rover at all though. Smile

The NA 5.0 V8 was dropped for the V6 SC. Maybe they are getting mixed up with this?

In the US, I think a V8 for the top-of-the-line model would be what the market expects.
