A bitter pill Geoff but using the free CAP link below - previously posted by Stan - without putting any optional spec extras into the valuation request, the below image paints a worse picture than you were offered.

07 plate with 65k on the clock when I bought it for £24,750 traded in with 74k on it (vogue se 3.6 TDV8) for £13,500 22 months later.

Buy a 05 plate model as they are appealing due to cheaper tax.

Give it 3 to 4 months and the price will go up by 30% when the winter comes! Simples |

Don't see the point of thinking about values, virtually every vehicle you buy will lose money the moment you drive it away from the dealers, I didn't buy mine as an investment but rather to enjoy it for what it is....a terrific car that makes me smile every time I look at it and I can't help but feel pleasure every time I drive it plus it excells at towing my tin tent which was high on my lost of requirements and so far it's been sublime |

Brian, can you expand on the 12k no depreciation issue, I am struggling to see that one. Even if you buy from auctions, cheers |
