Any one with any experience of coolant loss? Not overheating just loss of coolant and the telltale smell...

Have you tried doing a search over on the RRSport.co.uk - our sister website? The TDv8 Sport has the same engine in a slightly different tune 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

So hoping for an answer here..

Sometimes, my car pings and there comes the message, coolant low.
Never went to those low levels that smell, but nevertheless i still think the coolant comsumption is a bit high.

I had to replace the rad on my 4.4 V8 as it had a small weep hole in it. letters not necessarily in the right order

Had same problem few weeks ago small split in top of rad you do not notice it until it finally let's go.
About 8 weeks of coolant loss followed by big puddle at side of road.

One of our TDV8s did this - usually when going uphill out of the village from cold. All it needed was the expansion tank cap replacing.

Hi, I get coolant loss on myRR TDV8. Not consistent. Sometimes can do 3,000 with no loss and then lose 1 pint in 1,000 miles. I have done 90,000 miles and this is a fairly recent phenomonen. I just keep topping up the coolant. Not been able to find any of the recommended antifreeze though (Texaco/Havoline XLC)

The problem turned out to be the smaller secondary coolant radiator located right down behind the valance on the offside.
This smaller radiator has the usual inlet and outlet pipes and the lower outlet was fractured, new rad needed at a cost of £390+ vat so warranty was pretty handy when you add the labour to remove and refit..
Apparently quite common!!! If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem!!
