Lambda sensors?

Hi guys, ive just driven 10hrs from Essex to Scotland trouble free! Just as I was pulling into the road where im staying the rr started to loose power smell of oil/fuel/rubber burning and sounding like a tractor. I thought coil pack straight away but have just hooked it up to my code reader and its stating lambda sensors bank 1 and 2. Ive reset the codes and its running good again but im scared stiff to take her out as im a million miles away from anywhere!

Do these symptoms sound like the lambdas and is there any tests or anything I should do apart from replace them. Obviously I dont want to replace if the code could be caused by something else.

Any advice or assistance would be appreciated as im stranded!

Thanks everyone

Thanks Stan, ive just had pcv and maf done so prob not that. Ive just looked under the car and I have a split in the exhaust just before the lambda sensor so im assuming that with all the water on the roads today is my problem!
