Have a look at a yardman dx70, I've just bought one of these 2nd hand and can't complain. It's small and simple to use, has a better turning circle than a black cab and features a briggs and stratton 8.5 4 stroke engine. Ok so it won't win any drag races but for a cheap (and fun) ride on, its perfect.

Also known as a mtd Beatle I think they are about £1000 new but they change hands on eBay for £300-£500, one word if advise, parts (OEM) can be pretty expensive so know what your buying, check all pulleys and belts (belts are £50, pulleys £78+) they are a simple design and easy to maintain too.

Iseki sg 17or173, very good diesel engine, good secondhand value and lots of extras.

When I was a kid we used to have an old toro reel mower with a 6' cut. Was super fast to mow with and pretty reliable as far as i can remember.

Have a look on ebay as there are several modern equivalent models on at the moment. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I used to use a John Deere ride on , X300 model i believe, for topping the horse fields. Brilliant bit of kit which coped with the 7 acres easily. Good for chopping up the horse droppings so need to poo pick the field either. Very reliable - can pick a second hand one up for around a grand on eBay.

^ now that good to know, I just got my farmer neighbour to have silage from my 5 acre field, I just need some animal's on it now to keep the grass down........the mrs and youngest are pushing hard for on old nag to be kept on it ( I think an unreliable Green oval FF would be cheaper though!) If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

I can vouch for Husqvarna!! I've had a CTH180 for 8 years now. It cuts 1.1/4 acres every week. Then hoovers up ton loads of leaves in the autumn. Gets used as a wheelbarrow with an old Westwwod trailer we have, moving logs, brash etc. It gets parked up in the shed for winter, doesn't get looked at until about March/April and starts on the button.(Except this year, first time its had a flat battery!!). Also for 2 wheel drive it goes pretty much everywhere i ask. Even in the wet, as long as your throttle friendly its goes virtually anywhere.

We've got a John Deere 455 with the 346T collector mounted on the back of it.

I would buy one of them if I could find one for less than 3K, or the iseki or Kubota equivalent, but they do seem to hold their value 56 TDV8 Vogue SE
