Just spent the morning replacing the front control link arms on my wife's Audi. Should be an easy job, three bolts and a ball joint. On a FFRR you have plenty of space and access for this job, and enough room for sockets, ratchets and breaker bars. on smaller cars this is not normally the case, leaving you with RSI issues of turning a ring spanner flat by flat in a confined space, and why make it so that the new unit doesn't quite fit when you go to put it back on requiring four hands to do levering and pulling? Without full garage facilities (lifts etc) this is a pain.

Yes, Lotus never take prisoners, although I remember my Elite (1980 big one) being easy on space, as the engine wasn't crammed in the back. .
