Re Westminster - a few questions

In anticipation of collecting our car on Tuesday, I have a few questions.

Could anyone tell me whether or not a 2012 Westminster comes with a cubby box fridge between the front seats the same as a RRS or a Discovery?

Also, what is the census of opinion regarding using the Thule roof bars to carry say a Canadian canoe. Ive always been sceptical about securing on the rain channels because of possible damage.

Where does the removable tow bar fit inside the boot when not in use?

Does anyone have any side boot cargo nets that they no longer want/use?

Regards

Firstly, congratulations on the new motor!

In term of roof rack there are no rain gutters on the car. The oem roof rack fits to fixpoints on the roof which are hidden under flaps. The thule and aftermarket types seem to be the ones which mount to the door aperatures and clamp on.
There are several types of oem rack availlable, firstly sport bars, which are simple twin bars which mount to the fixpoints, secondly 2 roof rails can be fitted to form tracks either side, and cross bars fit to them. This is a slightly more permanent solution as the tracks need to be left in place as the fixpoint covers need to be removed. Thirdly there is a full expedition rack.

Sports bars are adequate for most purposes and copies of the gen articles can be had from ebay.

Not sure about the cubby fridge but i would doubt it.

Finally the tow bar, if a genuine removable, fits in a small cubby in the boot, drivers side, in the floor. A little flap lifts up and reveals the storage. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Can't help on the fridge

The Thule bars have pads on the roof but hook under into the door openings themselves - no rain channel on the FFRR - I've used them to carry all sorts of things - 4 bikes to the south of France & back several times - every year I take 4 pairs of skis & 4 snowboards to the Alps - never had a problem

If it's the 2 piece tow bar, its under the floor on the right as you're facing into the car

Side cargo nets are great - I can't imagine why anyone who has them wouldn't still want them, but good luck Thumbs Up

Thanks for the speedy replies, appreciate it Thumbs Up

I think that the Thule bars are the way forward as we had a similar problem with our previous 2010 RRS. I put the fixed roof rails on but then removed them at great expense as we didn't like them!

I know that it seems mad buying a car without seeing it but the way i look at it is that its coming from a Main Dealer, has low miles and is still covered with over a years manufacturers warranty and if its not perfect, I won't be taking it away (but I've been assured that it is absolutely perfect).

The photos show it to have a removable tow bar - hopefully it genuine OEM (rear silencer is silver in parts but I have already read that i can repaint this quite easily).

Cheers
