Aesthetic fault?

Had a ride to the main dealers today to look at an l405 dressed in indus silver. Just looking really because I intend to order one late this year for next year delivery. Lovely car in a colour combo with black roof that is really striking. However this particular one had electric side steps and once deployed I noticed a difference between these and the ones on my current l322, whilst mine are covered in rubber these ones seem only to be painted black which has resulted in unsightly patches of badly scratched paint at the stepping point for each door, wearing through to bare metal in places on a car with only 10000 miles on the clock. Has anyone else experienced this eyesore and is it preventable in any way because it would certainly put me off including them in my order, much as I like them. Agueroooooooooo. 93-20
I swear you will never see anything like this ever again....watch it..drink it in.

Good to hear you like the Indus/Black combo, I am waiting for an RRS in Firenze after having - and liking - the colour on an Evoque but think it's just too much red on the larger cars and I'm leaning towards Indus.

As for the side steps, I have seen some that look as they have been to hell and back with salt-related corrosion. I also wish LR would factory fit them; the installation instructions run to 100 steps and involve quite a lot of dismantling of the interior.

I have the steps on my FF they do mark! I think that they are anodised not painted. Once the steps are retracted no more problems I can not see the scatches .

Problem is, you are going to look at those side steps every time you get in the car and the appearance is going to bug you (or would me). It's not like a mis-aligned piece of trim (to think of one LR attribute) which you don't look at all the time.

Seems like a strange decision to make by Land Rover finishing something with a tendency to mark from day 1 when it is going to show up on demo vehicles and create a bad impression as soon as you approach the vehicle. Agueroooooooooo. 93-20

I think pink skateboard tape to cover the top will resolve it Smile Results in a nice high friction surface of course. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I would not recommend skateboard griptape as it will gather dust and mud unless you power wash it regularly. Also its glue does not stand heat that well. (not a problem in the UK, I know Laughing )

I would rather go with a rubber type of material, à la L322 ones... ! l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l
