The worst bit about washing my RR is the roof, even when the car has been lowered. Ever since I've had the car I've been meaning to do a full back to bare paint clay detail of the roof but never bothered because of the hassle.

Anyway I decided to try a Farecla G3 clay mitt. All I can say is get yourself one. I washed the roof as normal then used the clay mitt on the roof with a fresh solution of shampoo and water as a lubricant. As I used it I could feel all the imbedded crap coming off the roof. Afterwards the roof was squeaky clean.
It's got to be the easiest claying method ever.

After washing and claying the roof I polished it with Poorboys Blackhole glaze and then topped it off with Poorboys Blue paste wax. However I then used Fusso 99 Soft wax which everyone is raving about on detailing world. It's supposed to last up to 12 months. So I put it on the roof and will top it up every 5th wash.

 Travelling around in circles again.

Its one thing i do every few months is clay the car down, be it a rangey or shed of a citroen.

Door bottoms and bonnets seem the worst for getting engrained cack but claying really does make things miles better.

I tend to clay after washing using water as the lubricant and them hose off and another quick shampoo before hose off and then demon shine as im lazy with polishing stuff and it does a decent enough job if rubbed on by hand and keeps the car nice enough between detailing visits. Though i tend to rub more on the rear of any car as it does help keep the dirt from sticking on the back more than most stuff ive come across thats as quick to apply. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

The clay mitt was bought from Halfords, £12. There is a 3 for 2 offer on at the moment. I bought 3 even though 1 mitt is going to last a long time.

Kingpleb - I use demon shine as well. I think it's a really good value for money product.

However the best car cleaning thing I have ever bought is the clay mitt. Really easy to use, really effective and considering how quick it was to clay my roof, value for money.  Travelling around in circles again.

Agreed clay and demon shine are well worth the money.

Years ago I got a proper wool wash mitt and it's barely holding on but I will source another one sometime soon as they are worth the money but all seem to be small fibre wool now where as mine is thicker bushier stuff  FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I have a clay mitt too.....and I too am not a fan of cleaning the roof so I always add a bit of extra spit and rub to make sure I am not always up there ! Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Use the clay mitt on your windows first to soften it up, then use it on the bodywork. Remember to rinse it off occasionally as you use it. Travelling around in circles again.

Brilliant tips!

Last time I used the Bilt Hamber clay, this mitt looks loads easier.

Will be off to Halfords tomorrow.
