I think mine is smoother and more comfortable on fields than it is on roads |

Chap following me (obviously) shot the video, that short portion in its original format was >250MB hence the dung-like quality. If I get a chance I'll upload the better ones tonight, there's about 2GB of footage I think... It wasn't doable - the FF made mincemeat of the majority of it, apart from the bit where the route made mincemeat of my tyres . Although to be fair I seriously doubt whether any tyre would have survived what I hit. Might as well have slashed the side-wall with a knife as that's basically what I did. Nice loud pop though... General consensus from the group I was with was the RR was more capable off-road than all the other vehicles there (3x 90's with various engines and 2x 110's). As I said to a chap yesterday the only thing I think I've lost going from Defender to FF is character and bashability (and ironically with my Defender a bit of reliability). I was a careful driver in the 110 when off-road (gently-gently type rather than lunatic) but I did have to change techniques slightly with the FF. Basically you need to be more enthusiastic with the loud pedal (to tell the Terrain Response that yes you do infact want to get over that stupidly big rock) but at the same time gentler because the tyres don't have as much give in them. With the Defender and the tyres I had (BFG Muds) you could throw them and hit anything with them and they just seemed to take it. Seriously contemplating going down to Seven Sisters in September as looking through the video carefully last night (chap I met was one of the organisers) there doesn't look like anything the Full Fat won't be able to do without a bit of care... Should be some good footage if I pluck up the courage / get some rest from returning from Verdon the weekend before... |

If I remember correctly that's not actually a Freelander. I'm pretty sure it's a tricked out Disco (perhaps with a V with a fibreglass body to look like a Freelander...

Well SB1976, looks like a nice car on a nice lane. I like my off-roading to be just gentle stuff if I want to go over the very rough tracks I take my mountain bike. Actually I've found it to be much faster, probably more fun and certainly less expensive than taking the FF. Geoff |
