I've put hid kits on both the high beam and fog lights (6000k bulbs with 55W fast start ballasts) - what a difference these lights make - just the fogs on almost makes the original lights redundant

SA is not the only place that has wildlife on the road issues. We have had a few incidents in NZ (cows and a horse) on the road at night. In Oz the kangeroos, emus, camels are also notorious and not to forget the wombats (apparently they are so sturdy and stocky, they cause 4wds to flip over when they are run over). In Sweden and Canada the moose are responsible for quite some road accidents etc. etc.

The WOF in NZ is quite critical about that and rightfully so. Adrian is correct, that some countries require the HID headlights have either wiper/washer or washer to stop refraction. Poor people that meet me head on on the motorbike sure as hell won't have that advantage (although I do tend to keep the headlight quite clean).
