I popped my Fatty into a local Indy today to get them to kick start fitting a replacement air con compressor as the clutch is showing a fault on my IID and the air con isn't working.
I walk in and tell them I need to get the compressor replaced as the clutch is showing a fault. they say we'll get it on the machine go and get a coffee. an hour later and they confidently tell me that I need a new air con compressor as the clutch is faulty and it only comes as a unit. and they billed me to tell me what I told them Smile
at least the ball has started rolling

Said goodbye :-(

Today I said my goodbyes to my beloved Vogue SE. Big Cry It's been an amazing machine to own, truly the 'Swiss Army knife if vehicles'.
A day of mixed emotions really, but as they say, when one door closes another one opens.
I couldn't help having a sneaky look in the rear view mirror at the Full Fat to admire her one last time.
Having done the exchange for this:

I soon had a huge grin on my face.... Very Happy
Had it, loved it!

Had a nice drive to Llandudno. Just got back. I saw the strangest thing in Colwyn Bay. A dark blue L322 with a silver coloured OEM rubber bumper bar at the front. Did not look right IMO. Travelling around in circles again.

Towed the caravan to the Cotswolds for a few days. Back home now after an easy drive. Such a great tow vehicle.

Not really what I did today but the last week or so...

Started off with fitting a tow-bar two weekends ago, went pretty straight forward apart from having to cut off the bolts that held the exhaust on as they'd been rounded off.

Then last weekend did Surrey -> Highlands via Luton, Worcester and Middlesbrough, there was a cheeky drag race at some traffic lights against an Audi A1. No competition you say - well I was towing this at the time:

.

The photo doesn't really do it justice but that trailer was 6.5m long so a hefty combination with 3 tonnes of FF, 1.25 tonnes of Series and just shy of 3/4s of a tonne of trailer.

Hell of a tow vehicle though - it was brought up to Birmingham by a 3l Shogun which struggled a bit on the long hills on the M4 and then we jumped in together with it behind the FF. Although I did tend to keep it in manual 6th on the motorway as it had a tendency on the up-hills to change down before it was really needed (if at all) and then kept it in sport for the country lanes bits to keep revs a bit higher and more controllable.

Journey up was long due to weather mostly - 9am set-off from Surrey and 5.30am arrival in the Highlands (couple of short stops to stretch legs and give the pup a run:

Return journey involved Highlands -> Middlesbrough to pick up bike rack and trailer -> Doncaster (pick up Oxycetelene Kit) -> Birmingham (drop off Dad) -> Surrey (collapse in bed).

All told 1500 miles in one weekend with 400 of those with a trailer on the back - car performed faultlessly which is a contrast to it's occupants Rolling with laughter

Went to B&Q, purchased 10 2.4m decking planks and turned them into a Mega Sandpit for my son!!

Mega Sandpit is 180cm by 115cm and 26cm deep - filling it 18cm deep will take 373 litres of sand!!

Sand had a density of 1.8kg per litre = 670kg of sand required!! Perhaps a bit too much for the full fat!!

Fortunately I've found a landscape company who will deliver an 850kg bag of play sand for £90

And to think I was toying with changing car - try doing that in an S class!!
