England 2003 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Zambezi Silver
Engine Change on Td6

Hi there Im Changing the Engine on my Rangey Its a TD6.
Replacing it with a low mileage Complete Engine.
Do i have to change or re program the Injector pump Question Question .

If the motor is from a RR, it should be plug n play AFAIK. Adaptive values for the Injectors should be reset for best performance. Can be done with a LR OEM T4 - coming on the IIDTool.

@ Dazzler, brave steps you're heading for! Just curious: why do you do a swap? These should be robust engines altough mine has had a rebuild (previous owner Razz ) which I think was due to the powerbox installed.

@SteveMFr, what do you mean by "resetting adaptive values" for the injectors? As above, my car had an engine rebuild, don't know if anything like that has been done. Is there a way to find out? Or optimize the injectors?

td6 engine

Engine has a hollow tapping noise from no 5 cylinder possible cracked cylinder or Burnt out valve? lack of power loads of black smoke with a constant missfire. Injectors all checked bt Specialist all ok. Just as easy to change the engine complete. This is engine no 2. First one was a recon short block.

Wow, no luck for you then Sad I wish you all the best with the swap and hope this one brings you more joy!
I have my FF now for almost 2 month and when in the first weeks i was inspecting evrything I discovered the powerbox. According to the bills supplied with the car it was clear that this was installed right form the beginning. To my opinion it was the reason for rebuilding. Since I discovered the box I took it out immediately: the engine is less raw and spins more refined (as far as this is possible for a Diesel Rolling with laughter )

The adaptive values are adjusted automatically over time and stored in the ECM. The engine will run without the adaptive values being cleared, but it will run better if the ECM can adjust the values from scratch as it sees fit.
