Clean cream leather

Guys

I'm trying to buy my ideal car. No hurry and it will come along, so I'm trying to beg as much information from you kind guys prior!!

It will be or eventually get 2012 converted.

All my cars I've always brought cream leather as I think it looks newer and more Prestigous with the lighter interior, personal taste.
But all the RR I'm looking at with cream the leather looks so ingrained, creased and worn. I appreciate I'm looking at 12 y/o cars but my 12 y/o Merc isn't nor my 20y/o roller. Am I just looking at the wrong cars or am I gonna have to consider going grey or black?
I've yet to see 1 good conditioned cream trim and they all look 12 y/o!! Are they just not cleaned or does nice cream leather not exsist this old?!

Cheers.

England 2009 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Santorini Black

Hi there, I have recently purchased a vogue SE with ivory interior which was a little dirty. I used "Autoglym" leather cleaner which took most of the dirt off & lifted the colour . I then finished with Autoglym leather cream which gave a suppleness to the upholstery & kind of looked as if it had come back to life. I would recomment these products any time. Hope this helps. Very Happy

I too can recommend the above products, and if you really want the interior clean, including the door cards and such like, apply the cleaner with your electric toothbrush. Can't believe I've told everyone I've done that Laughing

Vanish foam is also very good with the electric toothbrush on plastic door cards, but I'd not use it on leather. Stick with leather cleaner and electric toothbrush for that.

Once you've got it how you like it, you can just keep it clean. I use baby wipes every so often for bits, like when it's been to the garage for work.

Mine is a 2003 with 126k miles.

+1 for the Autoglym cleaner and a toothbrush (non-electric coz I'm a luddite)/ soft nailbrush. I had a bottle of Zymol cleaner which was not at all good - that'll teach me for shopping by lable.

I've just bought a 2003 with parchment leather; not bad condition at all but was surprised by how much gunk came off the drivers seat and how different it all looked. Know what you mean about the MB leather standing up well, just be grateful you don't have to deal with the old Jag leather which never seemed to come up well.

I think you may be looking at the wrong cars . . .
Mine's Parchment in a nine year old 86k miles car.
I give it an occasional wipe down after which it is near perfect.
There are clean cars out there.

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Another +1 for the AG, Vanish foam and electric detailing brush.

A clean interior does not guarantee the car itself has been looked after, but I like to think that if someone has taken the time and trouble to keep the leather clean hopefully they've also attended to all the other little things necessary to keep a RR on the road. Travelling around in circles again.

The most effective cleaner for leather or textures interior plastics and the like is The Magic sponge , cleans more effectively and with less effort than any other product and because no chemicals are involved apart from water it is completely neutral to your leather so just a light conditioning after is required . Just look for Magic Sponge or melamine foam . 2008 MY Supercharged

The last time we had a similar thread on here, it ended up with someone pointing out that the surface of the leather is effectively sealed, as the dye / colour is painted on, so no amount of conditioning is actually going to do anything as it doesn't reach the leather itself. You can obviously clean the surface though.......

As an avid leather conditioner with the cars I've had over the years, in an attempt to keep the leather soft, supple and free from cracks, I was a little intrigued by this.

I asked in the thread how you keep it from cracking etc then, and didn't really get an answer.

Is this true ? Are we wasting time and money conditioning ? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I remember that thread , short answer is that the leather in the Range Rover is not sealed and like any other luxury car needs regular conditioning and care . Sealed or coated leathers can be found in cheeper cars but even then it is slightly porous and will dry and crack eventually if ignored totally . 2008 MY Supercharged

I'd definitely go with the leather is painted. I used to do it when I was in the car game plus the fact of colour uniformity.
The stuff we used to use (and we done Mercs, rollers etc) was like a vinyl coat type of spray (but professional stuff) and it did seem to put a more of a coating on the leather. A few touch up kits I've used at home seem more of a dye so I guess they are more pourous.

Can't remember the stuff I used to us to condition but was a black bottle that really smelt of leather. I wanna say autoglyp or something?
Have always cleaned the leather but never found anything that really brought light leather up.
Really looking forward to trying the autoglym, vanish and electric toothbrush. Or magic sponge!!

Via Detailing World UK forum, have heard a lot of good things about "Dr Leather wipes" and Dr Leather products in general. Not tried them but will soon buy a packet of the said wipes:
