I was a great fan of the re-map option for a diesel and had my TDV6 D3 done from new with the 240bhp Turbochip. I had thought that the first thing I'd do with the TDV8 was a re-map, but in 18 months, I've never once felt the need for it. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom |

I'm hoping that I feel the same with my TDV8, as I have re-mapped my D3. Looking forward to Saturday |

I think you will find, in Rolls Royce speak, power and torque of the TDV8 is "sufficient", there are one or two remapped TDV8's over on RRSport, but the vast majority of owners were like JMC and me and found the factory set-up was perfectly good as it was. The changes to the torque and gearbox for 2010MY have made it even better in standard form too. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |

The stock FFRR TDV8 is very sufficient, but its very tempting to think what could be possible..... Discovery 4 HSE

Bearing in mind I took out an autobox on my 4.2SC .... I wouldn't really mess with upping power and torque. Also be aware that while some people think you can "just undo" a power upgrade if you kill the engine/gearbox, they *WILL* know with more modern vehicles. Lots of stuff is recorded in little black boxes......

I'm sure that if Land Rover felt the engine needed to be chipped they would do it at the factory and test it for millions of miles before releasing it onto the money paying public...................... ok so we all know that Joe Public does a huge amount of free developement for Land Rover after they have bought the cars, but it's the same with all marques, they don't get everything right in developement! When the RRS S/C was being developed it was originally going to be a 4.4....................... but lots of testing revealed weaknesses in the block that led to cylinder wall failure so it got sleeved down to a 4.2 for engine longevity. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |

Have to say that I use a plug and play module from Chip Express on my MY10 RRS TDV8 and am delighted with the results..much more responsive and economy has improved by 3-4 mpg |
