If it's the driver's seat screen it's likely to be the wiring loom in your seat (based on more seat wear) but you are right to check the screen first.

Thanks for your reply Skot. Yes it's the driver side and the display corresponds in a vague way to the correct image in a series of vertical bars if you see what I mean, so could well be the wiring.

Nope, still can't get the surround out. Tried screwdriver but don't want to prize too hard or will damage the leather and surround. Is there a special tool that's used to remove the surround? Checked the wiring as much as I could underneath seat and all seems good. Thought I'd try swapping the leads in the rear where the video distribution box is, but unfortunately they're slightly different so that was a no go.

what about using a plastic spatula which you should have in your kitchen drawer. |

Thanks for the suggestion Stan, but actually i tried a couple of thin metal brackets covered in insulating tape to protect the leather, but pulling hard the bezel just bends and they slip out. Leather starting to look a bit scraped now |

if you intend to swap the screens over [to test] how about trying to remove the bezel on the good screen first, if it comes off easier them you might be able to deduce why the faulty one is hard to get off.. ... - .- -.
