The scissor jack is missing from my 2003 Vogue. Should I replace it with the same thing or a bottle jack?

It's a good question!! Aftermarket bottle or LR scissor...

Personally I'd go for the bottle jack..there's a good thread on here about the Merc Sprinter (I think) bottle jacks, worth doing a search on the forum. My old 300TDI Disco had a bottle jack as LR standard kit (stowed in the engine bay!!), so can't understand why they (LR/BMW/FORD/TATA) haven't done the same for the FFRR.

Having said the above, I've used the LR standard scissor jack to jack up my FF and remove/replace wheels and it's fine for it's basic purpose.

Only advantage of getting the LR scissor jack over the Bottle Jack is that you can stow the scissor jack with the spare wheel (well, unless you've got an LPG conversion...then your scr ed any which way!!).

I think the bottle jack is going to be my prefered option.

iphs, search the threads for the Merc Sprinter bottle jack (fairly recent threads on this forum).
If you're gonna get the bottle jack, that should be the best one for your needs.

I used the bottle jack on my flat tires and it works brilliantly, exactly what you need. They are indeed Merc Sprinter jacks and cheap and easy to get on the bay. With the adapter (BMW/Mini on the bay) it works great but even without it works (I didn't have it available for the flats).

Trolley jack of course for the stuff at home because who'd want a big trolley jack in the back of their car !! MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
