Cleaned my new (to me) FF yesterday

When buying it I did note the rear window rubbers had corroded and twisted which I believe is fairly common, but also a bit of corrosion on the left underside of the upper tailgate, on the inside so not visible.

Would the corrosion warranty cover these little annoyances do you think?

If the car is less than 6 years old and has been serviced and maintained in accordance with LR guidelines yes.

Did you buy from a main dealer and how long since you bought the car?

Thanks, it has full LR service history, I only bought it from a small car dealer a week ago.

If it less than 6 years old then yes, looks like a 2009 so i would reckon they would definitely cover the upper tailgate, not too sure on the window trims, as they may be excluded however it is worth a try.

mine had almost full LR history and they did my Tailgate no problems, check for rust where the rear doors close round the rear arches.... notorious place for them to rust! May be able to get them to do that at the same time.

Even if the car wasnt purchased from LR dealer the corrosion warranty will be valid. In theory the anti corrosion section of the service book needs to be stamped and signed for every service but in practice it didnt seem to make any difference to the outcome of my claim. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

My warranty book (version LRL 10 10 99 701) FOR MY 2007 (57) 08MY TDV8 says>

ANTI-CORROSION WARRANTY

Should any part of the bodywork of the vehicle be perforated by rust corrosion, the panel(s) affected by the perforation will be repaired or replaced by any Land Rover Authorized Repairer completely free of charge, regardless of any change of ownership.

The term "perforation" means a hole that penetrates through the bodywork caused by corrosion from the inside or underside as a result of faulty manufacture or materials

WHAT IS THE WARRANTY PERIOD

The Anti-corrosion Warranty begins at the same times as the vehicle warranty and continues for a period of six years.


There is a quite a bit of wriggle room for LR in this as you have to prove its perforated as a result of faulty manufacture or materials.

I shall pop by my LR dealer this week and speak very nicely to them, I did wonder about window trims but I shall point out it's the metal in them that's corroded and is perforated as the rubbers have warped and bits of the inside drop out and see where it gets me

I do have my car details filled in on profile, I had selected buck blue cause my colour is not in list, but for some reason it won't show?

I just tried resetting it, put in all car details with buck blue and it won't save goes to page cannot be displayed. Yep thats rust!

Mine were like that and the dealer did them foc, was probably as the car wasnt prepped well and should have been done before i had it! Kick up a fuss and see what happens.

At the end of the day it wont be an expensive repair at a bodyshop, then fit some lip protectors to stop it returning. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Checked my arches they seem to be tip top.

Booked in to get assessed on Friday coming, they will look, take pics and contact LR. I will make my point about corroded metal in rubbers politely but firmly as it is corrosion and on a 9 plate RR it really shouldn't have happened.

NMJ it's only about the money to repair more a matter of principle if you give someone a 6year anti corrosion warranty car has had all inspections up to date you should be willing to rectify any problems.
The reason they have provided is that this has been caused by stone chips not my fault they designed a painted part of the wheel arch and didn't think to cover with a plastic trim like the rest of the wheel arches.
Service manager taking it up with them will see how he gets on.
Seems to be everything is a struggle to get them to do never had the hassle with any BMW we have had but landrover seem to be a different breed of customer care.

Any way been thinking of changing to something else for a bit of a change might go and have a look at an Audi a8. Gone

Refusal to do work hasn't been the issue for us Mark6r... we've had a nightmare.. repeat ** nightmare ** with our SC bought as A.U last year but... dealership management have not quibbled reference any matters in need of repair, including corrosion to arches and tailgate. The problem has more often than not been 'shop floor' execution of agreed/ necessary works... unfortunately that fatally undermines any statements of good management intent
